Barry Bush

(Nonpartisan)

Current Benton PUD Board President. Elected in November 2012.

Statement

I have enjoyed serving as your PUD Commissioner for the last twelve years. Benton PUD is among the most respected Public Utility Districts in the country. This is due in part to the fact that our rates are among the lowest in the country, we have not had a rate increase since 2019, and our debt per customer is among the lowest in the region. I believe that the Snake River Dams should be protected, as they are a necessary part of our regions carbon free energy goal. I believe the Tri-Cities should lead in the development of the small modular nuclear industry. We are a nuclear community that understands that in order to achieve our state goal of net zero carbon by 2050, we must build more nuclear plants.I believe in local control. All power generating projects, especially wind projects, should be approved by locally elected officials. The current proposed project in Benton County will destroy our view, take up valuable farm land, lower property values and will not generate energy when it is coldest or hottest outside. I would appreciate your vote so I can continue to serve our amazing community.
